Be A Supporter

Leading organizations in Canada support the Consumers Council of Canada because of their recognition of the importance of consumer rights to a fair and effective marketplace.

Respected non-governmental organizations, associations, corporations, government departments, regulatory and self-regulatory bodies and delegated agencies support the Consumer Council of Canada, consult it and provide input and views to the Council concerning consumer issues.

The Council encourages Advocacy Organizations, Foundations and Charities to support the Council to help further its work educating and advocating on behalf of consumers.

To inquire about participation in the Council’s activities and opportunities to support the Council’s fact-based approach to consumer representation complete and submit the following form:


Consumer Interest Self-Assessment

Answer the following questions to describe how your organization incorporates the international statement of consumer rights and responsbilities into its activities. "Commitment" means that there is an unwritten understanding that this objective is to be met by your organization. "Policy/Public Statement" means that your organization has made a written commitment or public representation to achieve the associated objective. "Program/Evaluation" means that your organization has an actioned policy with an evaluation system to ensure the associated objective is met. "N/A" means that there is a legitimate operational reason why an associated objective does not apply to your organization.

Our organization markets products and/or services truthfully and without misleading advertising *
Our organization monitors safety impacts of products and/or services *
Our organization monitors environmental impacts of products and/or services *
Our organization supplies information to consumers that enables them to make informed choices *
Our organization protects consumer information and privacy *
Does your organization regularly consult with consumers to identify their areas of concern and seek their input and advice? *
Does your organization have a code of ethics? *
Does your organization have a system in place to effectively gather and promptly respond to consumer questions/complaints? *
If a consumer is dissatisfied with the handling of a complaint, is there an appeal process? *
The Consumers Council of Canada's Advisory Committee, made up of business, government and academic representatives, provides strategic policy advice to the Council. It meets several times a year. Would you or another member of your organization be interested in joining our Advisory Committee? *
